Toxic and combustible gases are commonplace in industrial sites such
as refineries, chemical plants and natural gas facilities. These gases
can create serious hazards if they escape into the air. Combustible
methane (CH4) and toxic hydrogen sulfide (H2S) or carbon monoxide
(CO) are among the most widely produced and most dangerous
industrial gases.

To minimize risk to personnel and plant safety, plants often deploy
early warning devices such as gas detection systems, which require

points. As public concern about plant and community safety grows,
interest in expanding detection coverage grows as well. This comes
at a time when market forces are placing companies under increasing
cost constraints, pushing plant safety managers to seek innovative
ways to reduce plant risk with limited additional investment.
