United Electric Controls Company (UE) celebrates 75 years
of supplying innovative pressure and temperature switches and
sensors for industrial applications, worldwide. The privately-held
corporation continues its commitment to manufacture and develop
its extensive line of threshold detection and switching products
in the USA, with headquarters in Watertown, Massachusetts,
and in Milford, Connecticut, the location of the Precision
Sensors Division.
Incorporated in 1931, United Electric developed the concept of the electromechanical pressure switch using the hydraulic motion of a mechanical bellows sensor to actuate a snap-acting micro-switch. Later, mechanical temperature sensors were added, utilizing sealed liquid-filled thermal systems to generate the motion to the micro-switch. From 1931, through the 1950’s, UE primarily served industrial OEMs and specific military applications, before developing a broad line of pressure and temperature switches for the process and utility industries. Today, UE products are installed where customers depend on reliable monitoring and repeatable switching to protect personnel, critical processes and equipment.
UE is the industry leader, offering the most complete line of pressure and temperature switch specifications and configurations for all industrial applications. UE serves direct customers as well as 120 distributors, worldwide, with advanced lean manufacturing processes that assure customers fast and reliable deliveries. The company supplements the mechanical line with innovative solid state switches, temperature sensors, and pressure transducers.
