The One Series Electronic Switch

Watertown, MA - United Electric Controls Company announces a dramatic new approach to the challenge of monitoring critical pressure and temperatures for alarming, shutdown and redundant control. The One Series Electronic Switch for Threshold Detection and Switching, combines the solid state performance and reliability of transmitters with the low cost, simplicity, and ease of use of traditional switches. Designed specifically to meet the needs of today's critical alarm and shutdown systems, the One Series offers a low cost solution particularly well suited for the redundancy and alternative technology requirements of emerging safety standards such as ANSI/ISA S84.01 and IEC 1508.
With an emphasis on reliability, the One Series is the first switch to continuously monitor and communicate its own health and status. Both "I AM WORKING" and "I Have Switched" conditions are communicated locally by a visual indicator and remotely over a single low cost discrete connection. The product continuously reassures the operator that it will function properly when thresholds are exceeded.
Priced at less than $350, the Class I, Division 2 approved One Series combines several monitoring functions traditionally performed separately by transmitters, switches and gages with just a single process connection. A digital display provides both a real time indication of process pressure or temperatures and a means for operator field adjustment of set point and deadband. (Bench set versions are available at a lower cost.) The product communicates its health (I AM WORKING) and the state of the switch remotely over a standard two wire discrete digital connection, thereby saving the cost of an analog channel. If analog trending data is needed, an optional 4-20 mA output can be added. The device features fast switch response on either rising or falling pressure, and can handle pressure ranges to 6,000 psi and temperature ranges up to 1000ºF. Set point and deadband are adjustable to cover the full operating range. The One Series employs solid state technology with no moving parts and is approved for use in Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations by UL for US and Canadian installations. Ruggedness, wide media compatibility and several mounting options combine to make the new device ideal for critical alarm and shutdown applications in harsh or hazardous environments.
