UE MECHANICAL SWITCH LINES COMPLY WITH THE LATEST EUROPEAN ATEX INTRINSIC SAFETY STANDARDS
Watertown, MA -
As a worldwide leader in the manufacturing of pressure and temperature switching and sensing products, United Electric, through Notified Body UL International Demko A/S (Notified Body ID No. 0539), has revised its EC Declaration of Conformity to reflect compliance to the latest standards. The issue date for the Certificate is December 4, 2011 and covers the following standards:
EN 60079-0:2009 - Electrical Apparatus for Explosive Gas Atmospheres - Part 0: General Requirements
EN 60079-11:2007 - Equipment protection by intrinsic safety "i"
EN 60079-26:2007 - Equipment with equipment protection level (EPL) Ga
The Conformity assessment is:
II 1 G Ex ia IIC T6 Ga
-50°C ≤ Tamb ≤ +60 °C
The Certificate No. is:
DEMKO 11 ATEX 1105261
The following product lines comply with the intrinsic safety standards listed above: 6 Series, 10 Series, 12 Series, 21K Series, 100 Series, 117 Series, 120 Series, and 400 Series. Models ordered with the intrinsic safety option would include appropriate ATEX "ia" marking along with a drawing explaining maximum entity parameters for an I.S. Barrier. An EU Declaration of Conformity is available for free download off our web site http://www.ueonline.com/prod_approval.html. The Declaration is titled "ISDOC" under the heading "Europe."
The ATEX Directive was designed to regulate the use of equipment (electrical or non-electrical) in potentially explosive atmospheres (created by the presence of flammable gases, vapors, mist, and dust) and the intrinsic safety standards are a component of this directive. While UE's mechanical switch products are inherently intrinsically safe – since they do not store energy within their components – having the product marking and Declaration provide end-users with compliance documentation through an approved Notified Body.
