UE announces a new firmware version for all One Series models to be released on July 1, 2010. This important new firmware enhancement provides our customers and distributors with the ability to change the units of measure at the instrument (in the field). It is no longer necessary to determine and order the One Series with the desired units of measure to meet the needs of the application. The units of measure are easily changed using a few simple key strokes on the One Series keypad. This firmware change will be implemented on models manufactured on or after July 1.
In addition to being a convenience to our customers, this enhancement allows distributors to inventory the One Series with confidence. Regardless of what is required by an application, units of measure can be easily converted between degrees F and degrees C for temperature models. Pressure and differential pressure models can be converted for readings in bar, kPa, kg/cm2 , psi and inches of water column. This change means that stocking distributors can provide the desired units of measure directly from their inventory, making it easier to provide overnight deliveries to customers in need, for example.
The One Series installation and maintenance (I&M) manuals have been updated to include corrections, new wiring diagrams for the Zone 2/Division 2 models, and complete instructions for converting to alternative units of measure. The new I&Ms will be included with the new firmware models and will be available on beginning July 1.
Please note: Option codes that were previously used to order the desired units of measure will remain active. Like before, the option codes provide a means of ordering a certain unit of measure as set by the factory at no charge. With the new firmware, the units of measure can now be easily changed after the instrument ships from our factory. Changing the units of measure will recalculate the existing set point, deadband, offset, plug port, span and 4-20 mA output scaling factors automatically. Max/Min values are reset whenever new units of measure are selected and saved.
