Most service questions can be solved over the phone by a question and answer dialog. Below are standard troubleshooting quidelines that may answer your question immediately. Also check our Frequently Asked Questions and Installation and Maintenance Instructions for other possible solutions. Or call our Technical Support Group at 617-926-1000 or fax your request to 617-926-4354.
If you are unable to find your solution in our troubleshooting guide, please send an e-mail outlining your problem to Ask The Expert. It will be sent to a UE Technical Representative who will contact you direct (make sure to include your phone and fax numbers). In the unlikely event the problem remains unresolved, instructions on returning the product to our factory Field Service group will be given over the phone.
Electromechanical Pressure and Vacuum Switches
Electromechanical Temperature Switches
| Possible Causes |
Solution |
Electrical:
- Is it wired correctly?
- Too much current-burned out switch?
- Dry circuit-too little current?
- Is a wire grounded?
- Is control head subjected to high temperature?
Mechanical:
- Has set point changed?
- Plunger binds
- Malfunctioning pressure sensor
- Is plunger moving or is it depressed regardless of pressure exerted.
- Has control been over- pressurized so movement is distorted?
- Has sensor been subjected to corrosive media?
- Pivots binding
|
Electrical:
- Re-wire
- Substitute higher contact switch
- Substitute gold contact switch to minimize oxidation
- Re-wire
- Use hi-ambient switch
Mechanical:
- Re-set
- Replace plunger
- Replace sensor
- Replace sensor
- Replace sensor and protect from over-pressure
- Use sensor that resists medium or use chemical seal
- Check control ambient & overpressures
|
Problem: Sensor is not operating-or is leaking medium fluid
|
| Possible Causes |
Solution |
- Over pressured beyond control specifications
- Is medium corrosive?
|
- Replace sensor
|
Problem: Switch is chattering
|
| Possible Causes |
Solution |
- Vibration present?
- Pulses in pressure line?
|
- Mount away from vibration or order 12 Series unit.
- Use pulsation dampener in line
